I can't remember exactly how I started singing a loving kindness meditation in the car. It probably had something to do with forgetting to recite the meditation at home before leaving for work. However, it was so grounding and freeing at the same time that I continue the practice. I feel amazingly present on the road and I also feel more forgiving and connected to my fellow drivers. I've even experienced feeling as though we were all dancers in a cosmic highway ballet.
Many people feel the least centered and least compassionate toward their fellow beings while driving. Imagine feeling a peaceful calm in every stressful situation. That is what equanimity is.
